Socrates Know Thyself- greek

know thyself from greek

know thyself:
The Ancient Greek aphorism " Know thyself" (Greek: γνώθι σεαυτόν or gnothi seauton) was inscribed in golden letters at the lintel of the entrance to the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. From that time onwards it is in every one's mind and the pursuit strengthened. The term know thyself became a sysnonym for self realization or self knowledge. East or west, all the sages are with one single prescription of know thyself. For example, the phrase has been attributed to at least five ancient Greek sages:

Chilon of Sparta
Thales of Miletus
Socrates
Pythagoras
Solon of Athens
All the above relegiously adviced the mankind to know thyself.
Nosce te ipsum
In Latin the phrase is generally given as nosce te ipsum. An alternative Latin rendering, temet nosce, appears inscribed above the entrance to the Oracle's kitchen .All these latin terms are equivalent to know thyself. It is also found "know thyself" (gnothi sauton) inscribed at the entrance to the Temple of Apollo at Delphi.

to KNOW THY SELF means to "experience " thy self as eternal spirit.... this is done through meditation ...meditation is the process of shutting the body and brain down ,like putting the body asleep ..but staying AWAKE inside of the body ,your pure consciousness (also called your spirit, soul and true Self will become non-identified with the physical animal body and brain and have the REVELATION that one IS and always has been ETERNAL SPIRIT .
